Tornadoes can be very deadly. They are a violently rotating column of air, that comes into contact with the ground, cloud. To be classified as a tornado, it must be in contact with both the ground and the cloud base. They also have very devastating consequences.
Tornadoes occur most often in association with thunderstorms during the spring and summer in the mid-latitudes of both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
